Summary

AREA:
The study covers both the UK and French waters of the Channel Basin.

CONTENT:
This synthesis comprises original research and interpretation of a database consisting of nearly 40 wells, both onshore (Dorset and Hampshire) and offshore, new geochemical data from the Carboniferous section of Normandy France, over 2,750 km of modern seismic data, and access to a high resolution aeromagnetic survey covering most of the offshore area. Complex structural issues and new play concepts including deep objectives are addressed. Summaries of the legislative, fiscal and environmental considerations, together with a review of the tectonic evolution, an evaluation of reservoir and source rocks with new geochemical analysis of pre-Jurassic organic rich units are included in over 135 pages of text, 85 figures and 5 enclosures. Jebco, a joint venture partner in this study, provided their entire spec. seismic database for both the UK and French areas. The seismic grid includes a good regional grid (10 km) plus more detailed areas across the study area including Lyme Bay.
